NEW RESTAURANT ON DESTIN HARBOR

We celebrated the 1st Day of Spring at Dewey Destin's charming new Harborside Restaurant. The quaint rustic building sits nestled under sprawling ancient oaks on a bluff overlooking the Destin Harbor. The beautiful spring landscaping made me happy just walking through the courtyard to the entrance.

While boating in the summer we often frequent Dewey Destin's original restaurant overlooking Crab Island. As much as we enjoy the original one, the new Harborside Restaurant offers a more extensive menu and is still “Destin casual”.

When we arrived at noon they were busy, but we were greeted the minute we walked in and were seated immediately. We asked for a table on the lower deck. The upstairs balcony has even more breathtaking views. The harbor was bustling with activity. We watched the pirate ship, Blackbeard, several dolphin watching tour boats, sailboats, Sea-Doos and all kinds of personal watercraft make their way down the Destin Harbor, through the East Pass and out to the shimmering Gulf of Mexico.

Our pretty server, Sherrie, was very pleasant and provided impeccable service. We ordered the smoked tuna appetizer. The tuna was chopped fine without the large lumps that some local restaurants serve. The generous portion was served simply – just the way I like it with an extra lemon wedge to bring out the fresh flavors and surrounded by crisp Saltines. We shared mine and still didn’t finish it all.

The food was delicious, the setting lovely, and in Destin it’s all about the view. This is exceptional! We look forward to coming back for dinner to enjoy the good food and the ambience of the harbor lights.
